Part-Time Design Assistant
Hajarie Home is seeking a part-time Design Assistant to support our growing interior design studio. This is a contract position to start, with approximately 10 to 15 hours per week, and the opportunity for hours to grow over time.
Hajarie Home is a full-service interior design firm based in Tampa, Florida, known for creating warm, elegant, livable interiors with a fresh take on traditional design. We are looking for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, design-minded, and excited to support a boutique interiors firm with client projects, studio operations, sourcing, installations, and social media.
This role is mostly remote, but the Design Assistant must be local to the Tampa area and comfortable working in person as needed. Initial training and occasional work sessions may take place at Hajarie Home’s home-based design studio, in addition to site visits, vendor appointments, client meetings, installations, and local project errands.

Responsibilities
The Design Assistant will support the principal designer with a variety of design, administrative, project coordination, vendor, and social media tasks. Responsibilities may include:
Assisting with sourcing furniture, lighting, fabrics, wall coverings, rugs, accessories, art, antiques, and other project selections
Creating and organizing product tear sheets, schedules, client presentation materials, and project notes
Requesting quotes, lead times, stock checks, samples, and pricing from vendors
Helping maintain project files, product links, client selections, vendor information, and internal notes
Assisting with site visits, measurements, photo documentation, and installation preparation
Running local errands as needed, including sample pickups, returns, vendor drop-offs, sourcing trips, and project-related tasks
Attending site visits, vendor meetings, client meetings, and installations when needed
Checking in on vendors, trades, and installers when needed, including painters, wallpaper installers, workrooms, receiving warehouses, and other project partners
Supporting order tracking, delivery coordination, returns, damages, and follow-ups
Helping prepare for client presentations and design meetings
Assisting with styling, install days, and project photoshoots
Supporting social media planning, content organization, captions, reels, stories, Pinterest, and behind-the-scenes project content
Helping organize design samples, vendor information, and studio resources
Completing general administrative tasks related to client projects and studio operations
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate has strong taste, excellent organization, and a natural eye for design. Formal interior design education is not required, but an interest in interiors, textiles, antiques, styling, and high-end residential design is important.
This person should be proactive, polished, trustworthy, detail-oriented, and comfortable working closely with the principal designer. They should be able to take direction, communicate clearly, follow through on details, and represent Hajarie Home professionally when interacting with clients, vendors, trades, and installers.
Qualifications
Strong taste, organization, and attention to detail
Interest in interior design, styling, textiles, furnishings, and home decor
Previous interior design, design assistant, retail, styling, project coordination, social media, or administrative experience is a plus
Comfortable working independently and managing deadlines
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Professional, polished, and comfortable being client-facing when needed
Familiarity with Studio Designer, Canva, AutoCAD, Google Drive, Pinterest, and Instagram is a plus
Comfortable working within the Apple ecosystem preferred
Must have a reliable computer
Must have reliable transportation
Must be local to the Tampa area and available for in-person meetings, site visits, errands, installations, and occasional work sessions at Hajarie Home’s home-based studio office as needed
Schedule and Availability
This position will begin at approximately 10 to 15 hours per week. The schedule can be flexible within Hajarie Home’s typical 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM workday, but the assistant must be reliable and available for agreed-upon work times, scheduled site visits, vendor check-ins, client meetings, training, and in-person project needs.
While much of the work can be completed remotely, some tasks will require in-person availability throughout the Tampa Bay area, including occasional training or work sessions at Hajarie Home’s home-based design studio.
Compensation
Compensation is $22 to $35 per hour, depending on experience, skill level, and ability to work independently.
